Moisture Content
The first step we take is to check the moisture in your existing floors if it is ready we can install the floarboards but if moisture is high we have to wait minimum 2 weeks for acclimatization period.
As standard procedure we always put plastic sheeting on the existing floor before installing new Timber floorboards.
Pre-finished T&G (Tongue & Groove) Floorboards.(19mm Hardwood)
We install either Battens or plywood, both are nailed onto the concrete slab with 50mm anchors, and then we nail the new floor boards on to the battens or plywood with heavy duty staples; which is known as secret nailing. We leave 10mm gap from each wall as an expansion gap and then cover it up with Beading, Scotia or your selection of Skirting board.
Installation of Floating Floorboards.(15mm Pre-finished Flooring)
With Floating floorboards it could be installed to, Plywood, Concrete slab or any existing flat surface only. This type of flooring is more suitable for units and townhouses.
The floating is layed with 2mm foam underlay which cuts noise by 35% or 5mm rubber acouistic mat and is only glued together between the tongue & Groove (T&G) with a construction grade water based adhesive.
We again leave 10mm gap between the walls to allow expansion, these gaps are covered with 19mm Matching Beading, Scotia , Quad or your choice of Skirting.
Sanding & Finishing
After the Installation an acclimatization period of 10 days to 2 weeks is required for the timber to get used to its nailed form, after this period we come in and begin the sanding and polishing.
We Sand:
Apply a coat of Sealer
Apply 1 st coat of Laquer allow to dry (24hrs) (Depending on weather)
Apply 2 nd coat of Laquer
